At Home Tree Maintenance
Understanding that most tree care should be done by an expert, you are probably wondering what you can do on a regular basis to help keep your trees healthy. We have some safe tips and tricks you can use to help keep your trees looking their best.
1. Add mulch around your per-existing and newly planted trees – mulch helps to insulate the soil around your tree as an added buffer for the heat and cold it encounters throughout the year. Taking up the grass surrounding the tree within a 3-5 foot radius will benefit your tree the best, but don’t put the mulch directly on the tree itself.
2. Watering your trees – trees require a particular amount of water a year to thrive, but over watering can be detrimental to its health. As a rule of thumb the soil should be moist, not soggy, and allowed to dry so oxygen can permeate the soil. Looking up the exact watering techniques for your particular type of tree will go a long way towards the health of your tree.
3. Use your resources wisely – not only do you have us here at Lakewood Tree Care for your trimming needs, make sure to know how to contact the Cooperative Extension Service in your area. If your tree is showing signs of disease or pest problems, they are the best resource to help answer any questions you may have about caring for your tree.
Tree Care FAQS
As we continue to do business in Lakewood, over time our customers ask us questions that pop up more than once. To help answer some of these questions we decided to list the answers here. If you still have questions that aren’t answered below, feel free to contact us for more information.
Q: Will you be able to give me an estimate before work begins?
A: We want to make sure you understand what service we are providing, and we always give our estimates up front. We will ask particular questions about your situation and from there be able to tell you how much the service will cost.
Q: How long will a tree removal usually take?
A: The time it will take to remove a tree generally depends on the size of the tree and how close it is to other property. We always make sure to take care to not damage anything else, but we still will get the job done in a timely manner. We offer our time estimate along with the price estimate up front.
Q: What type of equipment do you use?
A: For our tree removal service we bring equipment such as chainsaws, grinders, axes and safety equipment to make sure we have the right tool for the job. Trimming requires some of this equipment along with different sizes of shears, etc. If you wish for a full list of equipment, please don’t hesitate to ask!
Q: Do you require money down for your service?
A: No! We never ask our customers to pay for any services that we have yet to complete. This goes against our sensibilities as a reputable company. Our business is based on trust, and we don’t want to lose yours by asking for money we haven’t earned.
